We all know what a great buggy the E3 is and the fact that you can add a double kit to make it a double as well as a single makes it stand far and away as the most versatile 3 wheeler (in our humble opinion).

The main changes on the new Sport or SP version are as follows:-
 

• Recline on the rear double seat
• Push button quick release wheels (instead of the spring buttons which were a little fiddly).
• Adjustable handle (at last easy adjustment for both tall and short)
• Improved parcel tray and footwell
• New sun canopy design
• Improved harness

Please find details below of the old E3 which the Sport has replaced. All the comments are relevant as the Sport is an update of the E3.

The Phil and Ted's E3 is a great buggy with the added advantage of being able to go back to a single buggy once your oldest child wants to walk. You simply take off the double seat and you have a great single 3 wheeler.

TA "fantastically designed" choice that really comes into its own with a second child, when it "transforms effortlessly into a tandem" using an innovative second seat. It's "perfect for city living where transporting two under three is a nightmare" yet rugged enough for "serious off-roading". It's "sufficiently manoeuvrable to navigate the shops", "stylish", and "the folding mechanism is a doddle". Yes it's on the heavy side and the shopping basket is a bit puny, but all agreed it's "worth the money (as are the accessories)". "A great choice if you are thinking of having two kids within two years".

OUR OPINION

We love this pushchair! It doesn't have loads of bells and whistles of some buggies however it is a great workhorse. We lose count of the number of them we see at our jaunts around Whipsnade Zoo.

We think the Cocoon is great for newborns. It makes life a lot easier getting your baby in and out of the buggy without disturbing them.

We don't think it is too heavy when you consider that it is a double and it folds with the double seat on when you are in newborn and toddler mode which is a great help when dealing with a "newborn and a toddler"!

This is a very reliable pushchair, we hardly ever hear about problems however if and when there are Phil and Ted's send parts out swiftly and rectify it.

Handle

the new handle is simple to adjust, with the click of a button you can raise or lower the height to suit. the handle profile curves for comfort and tones in nicely with the shape of the sunhood. the foam grip is longer covering the complete bar, which is now steel. 4 improvements

Sunhood

 

the sunhood is re-shaped (including internal support wire), fits tightly, and curves both at the front and the rear of the hood. sexy! we’ve removed the PVC covering the mesh windows; a new peek-a-boo window allows the parent to easily check their child while out walking. fold the peek-a-boo window back and you have a sealable PVC window for your shopping list!

Fabrics

 

a permanent capstan peg on the frame allows the main seat, sunhood, and covers to fit snuggly. the angle of the base of the sling is providing a comfortable ride, and EN compliance. most snaps/domes have been removed and the fabric is screwed tightly down in 14 places – greatly improving fit and look. the breastplate shape is more tailored, and allows simpler crotch adjustment. the clips

Fabrics Fit

 

we’ve tightened the fit of the fabric ‘tunnel’ around
the ‘H’ frame. this removes the possibility of any
fabric catching when folding or storing sport.

Branding

 

branding: the breastplate now has an eye catching “&” logo. all sport buggies have an “&” zipper puller on the silver zips inside the sling. you will notice the buggy name has changed slightly from the SP, to the phil&teds sport. the branding is subtle yet effective.
it’s more obvious from afar and from the side.

Bumper Bar

 

the bumper bar ends are now plastic. this makes the bumper easier to take on and off, no more scratches and jamming! the new steel bumper bar is more curved and the foam length has increased to cover the bar. smooooth. 4 improvements

 

Fold Locks

 

fold locks. first we added a webbing strap on each side of the sport main seat (it also encircles the frame for strength). second we added a new plastic fitting near the autolock on each side of the frame. snag’n’drop the eyelet over the frame part for a secure frame lock. use the right side lock (standing behind) when the front wheel is on ` the left side strap when
the front wheel is off. this shorter strap provides

Rear Wheels

release rear wheels easily with one push
on the large central button. sweeeet. no
more lining up the nib spring with the hole

wheel guards included with each sport screw directly onto the buggy. no need for a separate clamp. the screws are housed in the frame, for the consumer to attach as required.
